Unity Recovery offers free ongoing workshops designed to help you build recovery and re-entry capital by enhancing your lifeskills!

The Social Determinants of Recovery & Re-entry (SDOR) are a 7-session practical skills workshop series designed to bridge the gap between “getting stable” and “thriving.” While clinical services focus on symptoms, these workshops focus on the life-infrastructure necessary to sustain long-term recovery and successful community reintegration.

  • Participation is rolling and you can attend as few or as many workshops as you would like.
  • You do not have to attend every session nor commit to any specific number of workshops.
  • Workshops are hosted digitally monthly (every 3rd Saturday of the month at 10AM EST) on Zoom; or you can attend an in-person workshop at your local Unity RCC (contact your local center for up to date schedules).

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at these workshops?

Most SDOR workshops are led by peer recovery support specialists that are skilled in the daily topic. Sessions are 60-90 minutes in length and feature a combination of lecture learning, skill building activities, and group discussion. We also host special partner workshops from time to time that may have special locations and time. Be sure to ask your peer specialist for more details.

When are the workshops offered?

Digital SDOR workshops are offered monthly via Zoom on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10AM EST. Additionally, if you prefer to attend in person, each of our Unity RCC locations offers workshops at different times and days (check your local center schedule for most up to date schedule).

What does 'social determinants of recovery & re-entry' mean?

Social Determinants of Recovery and Re-entry, or SDOR, is very similar to the concept of social determinants of health. In a nutshell, this means that many of the social aspects of our lives (education, employment, housing, financial literacy, etc.) can impact our recovery and/or re-entry. By working on and improving SDOR, you may improve your chance of self-determined success in your journey.

Who do I talk to if I need extra support?

If anyone you know, or you yourself, needs extra support, please feel to message the workshop facilitator on the platform, or send an email to contact@unityrecovery.org and we’ll get you connected to a peer support specialist ASAP.
