Unity Recovery and many of our partners are currently experiencing service disruptions. At this time, we are still facilitating all scheduled all recovery meetings but please know that service disruptions are possible as the federal funding landscape changes day to day. Our commitment is to continue all digital meetings for as long as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at these meetings?

These digital all recovery meetings are very similar to in-person open recovery meetings. People can join from anywhere and either listen, share, or both. Participants are often in recovery, but may also be allies of the recovery community or family members and loved ones of individuals in recovery.

When are the meetings offered?

We host meetings throughout the week and at least one daily. We may also add additional meeting times in the future as capacity needs grow. As meetings continue to get cancelled, please share this information with your networks and keep coming back. Full details are here: https://unityrecovery.org/digital-recovery-meetings

What types of recovery meetings are these?

These are open all-recovery meetings, which means people in or supportive of recovery from any type of behavioral health disorder or quality of life concern are welcome. No matter the program, pathway, or type of recovery you are in, this is a meeting for you. As a reminder, we typically introduce ourselves as “Hello, My name is ____ and I am a person in recovery”, but feel free to identify however is comfortable for you.

Who do I talk to if I need extra support?

If anyone you know, or you yourself, needs extra support, please feel to message the meeting facilitator on the platform, or send an email to contact@unityrecovery.org and we’ll get you connected to a peer support specialist ASAP

How do I share on the meeting?

If you would like to share, you can click “manage participants” (smartphone) or “expand participants” (computer) and then the blue “raise hand” button and it will let the facilitator know you would like to share.

How can I verify meeting attendance?

Meeting verification details are provided at each meeting you attend by the meeting facilitator. We limit details to the actual meeting to ensure that you are only asking for verification at meetings you attend.

Are these meetings recorded?

To respect privacy, we do not allow meetings to be recorded by any attendee or facilitator. It is possible that screenshots of a  screen may be taken however, just as if an attendee took a picture at an in-person meeting. We do encourage all attendees to not take screenshots to be respectful.

Community Standards

  • Anyone can choose to speak or share in a group, but no one is required to do so. Silently experiencing what is being shared has great value by itself.
  • When sharing in meetings, we encourage you to keep the focus on personal experience. If giving feedback to other participants, we ask that you keep the feedback free of judgment and focused on strengths and support.
  • Any harmful (i.e. derogatory or confrontational) language or behavior directed toward anyone in our community will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from the meeting. Such language includes — but is not limited to —  expressions of racism, sexism, genderism, classism, or any hostile or purposely stigmatizing language.
  • While your honesty is encouraged, please be mindful while sharing. For example, your body language or expressing extreme anger or aggression may cause unnecessary stress or trauma for others.
  • Commenting on anyone else’s appearance is inappropriate, even if it is worded in the form of a compliment.
  • We are committed to making this a safe space for all community members. If you are feeling uncomfortable in a meeting, please reach out to the facilitator or email contact@unityrecovery.org
  • We encourage everyone to practice patience and tolerance and to keep an open mind, as everyone is in a different place in their recovery. If you disagree with someone, be respectful.
  • Bigotry or criticism regarding shares on current events. As a reminder, the sanctity of human life and safety is not considered a political issue and may be shared about at any time. Criticizing others for sharing on a topic that is very personal to their lives is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We do not condone and will not accept racism or bigotry of any type in these meetings. In addition, we are providing a general warning to all attendees that minimizing these events is unacceptable in verbal shares. We ask that you respect the experiences of those most affected. If you do not agree with this approach, we are happy to help you find another recovery support meeting.
