Recovery Support Services Questions
Are recovery support services really free?
They really are free! Thanks to the generosity of our donors, partners, and our business development team, we will always provide individual recovery support and services completely free of charge.
What are peer-based recovery support services?
Recovery support services at Unity are delivered by our peer recovery support specialists – individuals with lived experience themselves that partner with you to craft recovery plans that focus on practical things in life – employment, education, housing, finances, relationships, safety, etc. Recovery support services are non-clinical in nature and are all about working towards creating a thriving life in recovery.
What is a recovery community organization and center?
Recovery community organizations are community-based non-profits that provide non-clinical recovery support services to their local communities. Often times this takes the form of advocacy, education, pro-social events, and direct peer-based recovery support. Recovery community centers are the community hub for people living in or seeking or recovery. At our community centers you can drop in to use a computer, take a recovery yoga class or attend a mutual aid meeting, or just find a safe space to relax and recharge away from the rigors and stressors of everyday life.
I am not sure how to get support services - can you help?
Absolutely. Requesting peer recovery support services is easy. You can drop-in to one of our community centers in Philadelphia (PA), Pittsburgh (PA), or Weatherford (TX); you can use the chat widget on the bottom right of this website; or just fill out this form and one of our peers will be in touch within 24 hours!
General Questions
How can I volunteer?
Volunteering at the center or out in the community starts by filling out the interest form. Each of our volunteers must go through an on-boarding session and training prior to starting.
Do you sponsor events or activities?
We are always interested in giving back to the larger community! If you have an event or activity that you are looking for people to exhibit at or sponsor, please drop us a line via the contact page! Note: we do not sponsor treatment-focused conferences.
Can you provide our organization materials to give to clients?
Absolutely! We provide outreach materials to community partners at no cost and on demand. Please drop us a note via the contact form to let us know how many of each of our materials you need.
Donation Questions
What kind of donations do you take?

We take a variety of cash, cash-equivalent, stock and security transfers, estate promises, and donation commitments. Most donations can be made on the website via the DONATE button. Restricted gifts can be discussed with our development team.

Who do you take donations from?

We review every donation over $10,000 in size prior to acceptance. We are committed to our mission and it is important that we do not put that mission in jeopardy by taking funding with strings attached. Thank you for understanding and please contact us if you have additional questions about our donation policies .

Can we make a donation in memory or honor of someone?

Yes! We accept donations on the behalf of others and a note can be placed with each donation online or offline. Annual donations in honor or memory of another are available on the website and our printed annual report.

What do you use donations for?

Restricted donations are used only for the explicit purpose outlined in the gift agreement. Unrestricted or general donations are used to provide free services to anyone who needs them (there are never any fees for individuals services at Unity). Full reports of our spending and operations are available annually in our annual report and IRS Form 990.
