commUNITY Place is a low-threshold, harm reduction oriented, referral only supportive housing program, offered in partnership with Allegheny County Department of Human Services, for those exiting homelessness or otherwise living unhoused that may or may not have behavioral health concerns or other social and health needs.
Staffed 24-hours a day, 7 days a week with a comprehensive team of peer supervisors, peer specialists, and peer care coordinators to ensure rapid intake, ongoing and flexible engagement in optional ancillary services, as well as connection and resource navigation to other Unity services and external community resources across a spectrum of individual needs.
Day-to-day operations are focused on housing first, with basic and daily essential needs the primary point of service, in a safe and consistent manner. Residents have access to engage with a dedicated peer specialist, community healthcare worker, and other staff as needed dynamically at any time during their stay. We offer daily optional group programming in addition to these individual services, including: daily living workshops (cooking classes, employment seeking, etc), group activities (yoga, meditation, group social support meetings, etc), pardon workshops, , community social activities, etc. We also offer capabilities for wound care and harm reduction supply distribution (naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and safer use supplies as needed).
